Don't be embarrassed, we're confidential
There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about when seeking help for a problem or even giving your relationship a tune-up. There is no stigma to counselling and it is becoming an essential part of our relationships. Working to strengthen your relationship is a positive thing – don’t delay – book today. Our service is totally confidential and we won’t discuss your issues with anyone else unless we identify a safeguarding concern (and then this will be discussed with you).
Why you should choose PRS
All PRS counsellors are highly trained to exacting standards, are all qualified to deliver couples and individuals counselling, and all undergo continuous professional development to keep their skills up to date. Counsellors at PRS are also registered with BACP, the governing body for counsellors and psychotherapists. The fact is that anyone can set up business as a counsellor without qualifications or the need to register with a professional body. At PRS we believe that counselling amounts to clinical therapy and therefore we insist that all our counsellors are properly qualified, insured and background checked to ensure the advice you receive is safe.
How It Works
When you come for your first appointment, you will meet your counsellor who will go through the history of your relationship, what you believe the issues are that need resolving, and how Peterborough Relationship Support can help. If you agree that we can be of assistance then we will schedule ongoing sessions with you, usually on a weekly basis. Each session lasts 50 minutes, with a bit of time at the end for the counsellor to write up their notes as a prompt for your next session. There is no minimum commitment and no pressure from us; you can come as many times as you wish until you are satisfied any issues have been resolved.
You get the most benefit from your counselling if you attend regularly, which is why we suggest weekly. However, our counsellors are happy to discuss working around your shift patterns if you work varying hours.
We now also offer secure online video counselling which gives you all the benefits of face to face counselling, without having to travel to us. Please click here for more details.
Because of the costs we incur as a charity to provide our services, we do ask for payment to be made in advance of your appointment each week, by logging into our website and paying online. If you need to cancel or reschedule, you can do so with over 48 hours notice by logging into the website. Unfortunately we cannot refund payments for appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or where you do not turn up at the time of your appointment, so please remember your appointment time.
We're pleased to add details of partners and supporters here. Please contact us if you would like to form a partnership with Peterborough Relationship Support.
